Thing 23!

The final step... What do I think... Hmmm... At this time... I am keeping Springpad, 511MN, Flipboard, Zite, Duolingo, B-Rhymes and Appsgonefree.  I already had Zinio, Overdrive and Pinterest which I love!  I still have Aviary, Word Warp, & Word Collapse but unsure as to whether I will keep.  Finding 7 apps I like is pretty good.  This also encouraged me learn how to set up a blog.

On the other hand, I found difficulties with several of the suggested apps in getting them to work or do much other than be a sample.  Quite a few  simply didn't suit me. Yes, it was good to have a resource of apps to try but I felt I "Had" to try at least one Thing each time and some just didn't interest me.

I enjoyed talking and sharing with my co-worker who is also doing this but I didn't go into any of the blogs after the first couple of weeks... Just didn't take the time.

I appreciate the time, work and research that went into creating this program and I say "Thank You!"

All in all... A good experience... But...Would I do it again???  Probably not.

Thing 22 of 23 Mobile Things

Apps Gone Free is pretty cool.  I've not yet tried any of their free apps but it does look interesting.  I love a good deal... Especially a free deal.  This is something I will check often.

Thing 21 of 23 Mobile Things

FREE-FOR-ALL... Three of my all time favorite FREE apps are... (1) Pandora... Free Music with an occasional advertisement.  I have selections for Big Girls Don't Cry, Celtic Thunder, Disney's Children music, Iz (Hawaiian), Soulful Stride, Mozart and more.  Quickly and Easily covers all my musical moods!  Can't imagine a world without music.  (2) Pinterest... I check the "board" several times a day!  Gets my creative juices flowin'!  I collect information for food, gardening, art, camping, home decor, raising chickens, travel, knitting, crafts AND KID STUFF FOR THE CHILDREN'S LIBRARY! ;). (3) Fairway HD.... Solitary with a gopher and golf... Very addicting. :}

Thing 20 of 23 Mobile Things

GAMES, GAMES, GAMES... Let the GAMES Begin!!!  What can I say... I Love Games!  I downloaded WORD WARP and WORD COLLAPSE.  These two are pretty Good... Actually... addicting!  I especially enjoy games like these that help improve my mind... And hopefully... My spelling!  I may "need" to download a couple more of the suggested apps!

Thing 19 of 23 Mobile Things

I chose to download Spotify.  It's alright... I did find Tabata music and saved...otherwise... Not so much... I LOVE PANDORA for music... So easy and wonderful music.  Just not interested in the other suggested apps for #19.  This might be something I can ask kids at the library to help me with... They need to be given opportunities to teach what they know and love.

Thing 18 of 23 Mobile Things

Duolingo!  This is Great!  I have always wanted to learn Spanish... Tried a couple of home study courses but this is the best I've seen!  It have audio, pictures, word selection, type your words, microphone... And works on simple levels... AND FUN!  I experienced loss of audio but I have learned HOW TO FIX LOSS OF AUDIO ON IPAD... Go to SETTINGS, GENERAL, ACCESSIBILITY, TURN ON THEN OFF MONO AUDIO.  That should do it!  And... Duolingo offers French and several other languages!  AND... You can set it up to be available off-line.  LOVE IT!  I think I will post this app at the library for the kids also.

I'm debating about downloading B-Rhymes Dictionary.  I love poetry... Plus... Next month is Poetry Month.  This could be helpful to encourage the kids at the library in writing poetry.

Thing 17 of 23 Mobile Things

511MN is a very good app! In the past I would go on-line to MN511 to check road conditions before traveling.  On-line is slow... This app is fast and I find it quite helpful.  "It's a Good Thing"!

Thing 16 of 26 Moble Things

I didnt try any of the suggested audio apps because I have one I Love!... Super Note!  I started with the free version then upgraded to the $3 version.  Record, take notes (at the same time), memos and photos.  I listen to lectures on my computer and record with Super Note on my IPad then send it email to myself or friends.  If you check out the App Store you can read many high recommendations.

Thing 15 of 23 Mobile Things

I downloaded VIS last weekend and enjoyed playing with it.  Cool Vision Board!  I am in the process of doing some house repairs and painting so I made up aboard of dining room ideas.  I couldn't do "Everything" with the free version, but will see how much I will actually utilize it.  I may spend the .99 for the "Full" version.  I like it!

Thing 14 of 23 Mobile Things

Video App?!?  Seriously?!?  In January I used my IPad camera and made a video of my grandson and easily posted it to Face Book.  Simple, clear, done... No need to download another app.  The IPad. Is quite capable of doing the job to my satisfaction and if I want to post a video for the library, I am sure I would do it the same way. Easy.

Thing 13 of 23 Mobile Things

Educreations... Working with a "White Board" for presentations.  Actually, I have had this app for about a year and only created one page.  I've not used it personally or for the library... I simply do not do presentations.  I am more active/interactive with story time presentations for children... Lots of expression and interaction.

Thing 12 of 23 Mobile Things

Books, Books, and Books... I Storybooks... Looked pretty good... Nice pictures, 12 free books that flip out after 2 weeks and receive 12 new books... Fantastic especially for young families that "need" a few new books before they can get to the library or grandmas that want a new book for visiting grandchildren... BUT... The sound didn't work. :(   Next:  audiobooks app... Several classics and the audio works!.. Although... The British accents make it a little of a challenge to understand.
I deleted the children's I storybook App.

Thing 11 of 23 Mobile Things

Libraries and Reference... Zinio and Overdrive... First:  Zinio!  I LOVE ZINIO!  I love magazines for ideas on home decor, gardening, crafts, arts, recipes, health and travel.  With such a range of interests, it is challenging to keep up with all of the "physical" materials.  Magazines on my IPad  is great... No lost or damaged issues taking up space around my chair or bed... I now have many issues organized within my mobile device available any time and place... No Clutter! I am always suggesting it to patrons at the library.
Next, Overdrive!  Also Wonderful although I do not utilize very often.  I have downloaded several books from time to time and one audio book when I drove to Texas.  I soon discovered I needed a speaker for my IPad while driving in order to hear over road noise.  I am also partial to the physical feel of books.  I recently posted signs at the library of a couple of new YA and J E-books.  That is something I feel I need to make more effort with for our area kids as well as myself.
I appreciate having both available for my use as well as my community... "It's a Good Thing."

Thing 10 of 23 Mobile Things

Instagram... Hmmm... I feel a little lost with this one because I hesitate to add to my contacts and Facebook.  I am an outgoing person but, I don't like so much of myself being "out there".

Thing 9 of 23 Mobile Things

Here I played with the Aviary app.  This is FUN!  I can see using this for personal use and at the library when working on our library website and F.B. pages!  Yee-Haw!  By the way...this is my cat, Zane Gray, he's pretty Zaney!  Great cuddler!

Thing 8 of 23 Mobile Things

Social Media Management Tools... Quite frankly, One social network to work with is enough... I have Facebook and have had my "ups and downs" with it.  I did learn one thing about my FB app!  I have little icons I can add on my private messages... Several to download for free... So, I added Snoopy! ;)

Thing 6 of 23 Mobile Things

Quick Office and Google Drive apps look great and I hope will be a great help accessing my Google Drive from my IPad when away from the Library.  I have had challenges with the IPad for this in the past.

Thing 5 of 23 Mobile Things

I downloaded Springboard but... Couldn't get the hang of it.  It wanted access to my Facebook... Nope... Recipes, movies, books and notes.... Hmmm... Delete, Delete, Delete.
I also downloaded Bamboo Paper.  I wish the colors were brighter... Otherwise... I like it.
Now... A few days later... Reloaded Springboard... Try it again... Added a book list.  And now... Knitting patterns... This may be OK.
Still enjoying Springpad.  Great way to keep special notes, photos and ideas!

Thing 4 of 23 Mobile Things

I Like Zite!  Little clips of information from magazines, newspapers, articles that are my favorite picks... Nice~~~
Ok... It's several days later since my above post and I have really been enjoying Zite but yesterday a friend showed me her Flipboard and I "flipped!"  I like it even more than Zite.  One reason is the fact that Flipboard does not need to be "on-line" to view.  I also love making up my own magazine collection... Sweet!  Flipboard also has books so I added the Children/Teen book list for researching titles for the Children's Library here in Madison... As well as the adult list for myself.  Defiantly a PLUS for business AND pleasure.  ;)
